This is important. If you’re getting married at a resort in Cancun or the Riviera Maya, there’s a cost that Tam Rico Photo wants you to know about before you book anywhere: the resort vendor fee.
Most resorts charge an outside vendor fee of $500 USD or more just for allowing your chosen photographer to enter the property. That’s on top of what you’re already paying for rooms, the wedding package, catering, and everything else. And most photographers either don’t mention it until you’ve already booked, or they pass it directly to you as an extra charge.
Why does Tam Rico Photo cover resort photo vendor fees?
Because I’ve seen what happens when couples don’t know about them.
I once worked with two brides who came to Cancun for their elopement. Getting married here was their dream. But when the resort told them about the vendor fee, they had to make an impossible choice: pay the fee or pay their photographer.
They didn’t have professional photos of their own ceremony. That still breaks my heart.
That experience changed how I run my business. I got tired of watching couples feel like everyone in Mexico is trying to squeeze extra money out of them.
That’s not fair, especially when hotels are already charging premium prices for everything.
So here’s how I handle it: on any wedding collection of 3 hours or more, I cover half of your resort photo vendor fee, up to a maximum of $500 USD. I don’t think it’s fair for couples to be punished for choosing the photographer they actually want. If you’ve been researching cancun photographer prices, you’ve probably noticed a huge range. Some photographers charge $300 for two hours. Others charge $7,000+ for a full day. It’s confusing, and it’s hard to know what you’re actually comparing.

What are resort vendor fees, and do I have to pay them?
Most resorts in Cancun and the Riviera Maya charge an outside vendor fee between $400 and $1,000 USD when you bring your own photographer instead of using the in-house team. At Tam Rico Photo, I cover half of the resort vendor fee, up to a maximum of $500 USD, on any wedding collection of 3 hours or more. It is one less thing you need to worry about on your wedding day.

How far in advance should I book my Cancun wedding photographer?
For destination weddings in Cancun, booking 6 to 12 months in advance is ideal. Peak season from November through April fills up fastest. Tam Rico Photo takes a limited number of weddings per year to make sure every couple gets full attention and energy, not just a slot on a calendar.
Do you travel to Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Isla Mujeres?
Yes. I’m based in Cancun and regularly photograph weddings and couples sessions throughout the Riviera Maya, including Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, and everywhere in between. No travel fee for Cancun, Puerto Morelos, Costa Mujeres, Isla Blanca, and Playa Mujeres. A $50 USD travel fee applies through the Riviera Maya up to Playa del Carmen, and for Isla Mujeres. From Playa del Carmen down to Tulum the travel fee is $150 USD. For Los Cabos the fee is seasonal, so I’ll quote it based on your dates. Always happy to talk through your location.
How much is a couples or engagement photo session in Cancun?
Couples and engagement sessions with Tam Rico Photo start at $600 USD, and family sessions start at $600 USD. These are perfect for engagement photos, honeymoon portraits, anniversaries, or family vacation sessions on the beach. Proposal photography starts at $795 USD. Same documentary approach as my weddings, shorter timeline.
When will I receive my photos?
Wedding galleries are typically delivered within 4 to 6 weeks, and couples or family sessions within 2 to 3 weeks. You’ll receive a sneak peek of highlights within 2 days of your session.
What is the deposit to book a Cancun wedding photographer?
A non-refundable retainer of $500 USD is required to reserve your wedding date with Tam Rico Photo. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding day. For couples sessions, engagements, proposals, and family sessions, the retainer is $300 USD, and the balance is paid on the day of the session. I accept Zelle and Wise App. Dates are booked on a first-come basis, and I only take a limited number of weddings per year.
What happens if it rains on my wedding day?
Rain is part of the Caribbean experience, especially May through October. For every wedding, I adjust the timeline on the fly, scout covered backup locations at your venue ahead of time, and treat rain as part of your story instead of a problem. Some of the most beautiful images I’ve documented in almost 20 years and 800+ weddings happened in unexpected weather. Tam Rico Photo plans for it, so you don’t have to worry.
