Getting Ready at Royalton Riviera Maya
Wedding mornings have a special feeling. Your favorite people flew across the world to be here. Everyone knows something beautiful is about to happen. Jennilyn got ready in her suite with her bridesmaids. They all wore matching dark blue robes. When it was time to put on the dress, her girls turned to face the windows. Then came the big reveal. Watching a bride show her dress to her best friends is always emotional. Hands went to hearts. Eyes filled with tears. These women have known each other for years. Seeing their friend as a bride meant everything. Jennilyn’s gown was gorgeous. Delicate lace details. A beautiful open back. It caught the soft morning light perfectly. I also took some private boudoir photos of Jennilyn during this time. Those images stay private. But I want future brides to know: if you want intimate, beautiful photos of yourself on your wedding morning, I can create those for you. Many brides love having these as a gift for their partner or just for themselves. Justin got ready with his groomsmen nearby. The vibe was relaxed but meaningful. Fixing ties. Sharing jokes. Quiet moments before the big walk.

The Ceremony, Royalton Riviera Maya Wedding
Royalton Riviera Maya has an amazing ceremony spot. The wooden gazebo creates stunning patterns overhead. Blue sky and palm trees frame everything. It’s modern but natural. The light through the wooden slats makes beautiful shadows.
About 60 guests traveled from the United States to watch Jennilyn and Justin say “I do.” The bridesmaids wore dusty rose dresses and carried white and green bouquets. The groomsmen kept it casual with navy pants and white shirts with suspenders. Perfect for a beach wedding.
The ceremony was full of real emotion. There were tears, the happy kind. What I loved most was how present they were. They held hands and looked at each other like they were the only two people there. These unscripted moments are why I love my job, and thats why I would be your perfect Royalton Riviera Maya wedding photographer.
When they danced, not walked, they danced, down the aisle as a married couple, the celebration was just beginning.

Golden Hour Portrait Session on the Caribbean Beach
After the ceremony, while guests enjoyed cocktail hour, Jennilyn and Justin, close family, wedding party, video crew and I made our way to the beach for their portrait session. And let me tell you — the Caribbean decided to show off that evening.
We started on the sand as the sun went down. There’s something magical about this light. It’s soft and warm. It wraps around you. Jennilyn’s lace gown looked dreamy against the blue water. The connection between her and Justin made every shot feel natural.
But the real magic came later. We moved to the lobby area where Royalton has curved metal sculptures near a reflecting pool. The sunset turned the sky orange and gold. We captured some of my favorite images ever.
One photo shows them embracing, framed by the sculptures, with the sunset reflecting below them. Palm trees in the background. You can’t plan light like that. You can only be ready when it happens.
This is why I always tell couples: make time for sunset photos. The Riviera Maya has incredible spots. But the light changes fast. Having a photographer who knows these locations makes a big difference.
The Reception. Dancing Under the Stars
If there’s one thing I know about Jennilyn and Justin: they know how to party.
The reception was on the beach under the stars. The energy was nonstop from the first dance to the last song.
Jennilyn changed into a sleek slip dress for the party. Perfect for dancing on the sand. I love when brides do a dress change. The ceremony gown was romantic and detailed. The reception dress was modern and free. Both were totally her.
The first dance set the tone. No slow, boring sway. They brought their whole personality to the floor. There’s an image of them dancing in front of giant “LOVE” letters, both laughing, her dress flowing. That’s who they are. Joyful. Playful. Real.
The toasts were a mix of laughter and happy tears. I caught their reactions as friends and family shared stories. Justin laughing so hard he threw his head back. Jennilyn wiping tears while smiling. These candid moments often become couples’ favorites. They show how the day felt, not just how it looked.
Then the dancing began. Royalton’s LED dance floor lit up in bright colors. The whole wedding party took over. The bride danced barefoot with her crew. Everyone sang along. Palm trees swayed in the warm night air.
This is what a destination wedding celebration looks like when you just let go and enjoy it.
