Tulum Elopement Photographer: Rosie and Sam’s Intimate Day at
Our Habitas
When Rosie and Sam reached out from the UK about their elopement in Tulum, I knew it was going to be special. As a tulum elopement photographer with nearly 20 years of experience, I’ve had the joy of documenting hundreds of love stories across the Riviera Maya. But there’s something about an elopement that always hits different. No big guest list, no packed schedule. Just two people choosing each other in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Their venue? Our Habitas Tulum, a luxury glamping resort where the jungle meets the Caribbean Sea. This is the story of their day.
Why Rosie and Sam Chose to Elope in Tulum
Rosie and Sam wanted their wedding day to be about them. Just the two of them, far from home, surrounded by nature and warmth. They traveled from the UK with a simple plan: elope in Tulum, soak in every second of it, and then celebrate with family and friends at a reception back home.
That’s the beauty of an elopement. You get to design your day around what actually matters to you. No compromises, no drama, no seating charts. For Rosie and Sam, it meant choosing a place that felt like an escape from the everyday, somewhere that matched the intimacy of what they were doing.
Tulum was the perfect fit. The jungle, the ocean, the laid-back energy. Everything about it says: slow down and be present.

HIGHLIGHTS
Getting Ready at Our Habitas Tulum
When we arrived at Our Habitas, Sam was already dressed and ready to go. He gave us space so we could be with Rosie while she finished getting ready in their glamping suite.
And let me tell you, Rosie looked like a model. She did her own makeup, and it was flawless. The kind of effortless beauty that does not need a glam squad to shine. We took some photos inside the room first. The glamping suites at Our Habitas are stunning, with natural textures, soft light filtering through the canvas, and that jungle-meets-luxury vibe that makes everything feel elevated.

Walking Through the Jungle to the Ceremony
One of the things I love most about Our Habitas is how they preserved the jungle. The paths between the rooms, the restaurant, and the beach are narrow stone walkways winding through the trees. It feels very Tulum, very connected to the land.
Walking with Rosie through those jungle paths toward the beach where Sam was waiting was one of the most beautiful moments of the day. She was glowing. You could feel the excitement building with every step. The anticipation, the love, the “this is really happening” energy.
Wedding Ceremony in Tulum
And then Sam saw her.
His face when he saw Rosie in her dress, walking toward him on the beach, is something I will carry with me for a long time. That is the kind of moment you cannot stage or recreate. You just have to be ready for it. After photographing over 800 weddings and elopements, I’ve learned to anticipate those split-second reactions.
That’s where the real magic lives.
The ceremony took place right on the beach, under a beautiful floral arch created by Cherry Blossom Mexico. The sound of the waves, the warm breeze, the late afternoon light.
It was intimate and perfect.
Their officiant was Estela, a local judge who also happens to be the same person who officiated my own wedding. When you know the people involved, you understand the energy in the room (or in this case, on the beach).
And that connection shows up in the photos.
Rosie and Sam exchanged their vows with the Caribbean behind them and the jungle at their backs. No crowd, no formalities, no rush.
Just two people making a promise to each other in one of the most beautiful settings in the world.
After the ceremony, we did a short portrait session on the beach while the light was still golden. Then we headed upstairs to the restaurant area at Our Habitas, where Rosie and Sam cut their cake and toasted to their new chapter together.

What Is Our Habitas Tulum Like for an Elopement?
Our Habitas Tulum is a luxury eco-resort on the beach road in Tulum, about 4 kilometers from the Tulum archaeological site. It’s a glamping-style property with 42 stilted tents surrounded by jungle, a stunning beachfront, a cenote garden, and a rooftop restaurant with ocean views.
What makes it special for elopements is the combination of privacy, natural beauty, and that effortless bohemian-luxe atmosphere. The rooms feel like a retreat. The beach is pristine. And the jungle paths connecting everything give the whole experience a sense of adventure and discovery.
From a photographer’s perspective, the light at Our Habitas is incredible.
The interplay between jungle shade and open beach creates dynamic, cinematic images throughout the day. Every corner offers a different backdrop: lush greenery, natural wood and canvas textures, turquoise water, golden sand.
One important detail for couples planning an elopement here: Our Habitas didn’t charge a vendor fee for our team. That’s not always the case at resorts in the Riviera Maya, so it’s worth confirming directly with their events team when you inquire. If your venue does charge vendor fees, Tam Rico Photo covers half of the resort vendor fee, up to a maximum of $500 USD, on any wedding or elopement collection of 3 hours or more.

Why Hire a Tulum Elopement Photographer?
An elopement might be smaller than a traditional wedding, but it is not less important. If anything, the emotions are even more concentrated. Every look, every word, every quiet moment between the two of you carries more weight because there are no distractions.
That’s why working with a photographer who understands elopements matters. The pace is different. The approach is different. You need someone who can blend into the moment without directing it, someone who knows how to find the story in the small details.
At Tam Rico Photo, I have spent nearly 20 years and over 800 weddings and elopements learning how to do exactly that.
My style is documentary and cinematic.
I do not interrupt your day to pose you. I follow the emotion and let the images tell the truth of what happened. I’m also a Fearless Photographers award winner, which means my work has been recognized internationally for capturing authentic, unscripted moments.
I’m based in Cancun and photograph elopements and weddings throughout the Riviera Maya, including Tulum, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, and Puerto Morelos. Elopement photography with Tam Rico Photo starts at $1,400 USD, and I cover half of the resort vendor fee, up to a maximum of $500 USD, on any collection of 3 hours or more, so you don’t have to worry about that extra cost.
Whether you are planning a jungle elopement at Our Habitas, a beach ceremony in Tulum, or something completely different, I would love to hear your story.
Because at the end of the day, love looks good on everyone.
